From 12th March 2020, the practice will no longer be signing prescriptions and all prescriptions will be sent electronically. If you do not have a nominated pharmacy, please visit your desired pharmacy or let the practice know ASAP, so we can nominate the pharmacy for you. If you do not nominate a pharmacy, your prescription will still be sent electronically, but you will have to collect a prescription “token” from the practice reception. A token is a paper version of your electronic prescription that you can take to any pharmacy. The token will provide a barcode to the pharmacy which they can scan and download your prescription. However, this download could take some time, and it is recommended that you nominate a pharmacy. Nomination is quick and easy, and you can change your mind to send your prescription to another pharmacy, just let us know.
It is not possible to opt out of prescriptions being sent electronically. It is safer auditable and quick. This is happening at every single GP practice in England.
There may be some occasions when you will need to collect a paper, signed prescription from reception (or ask your pharmacy to do it for you), as a small number of certain medications cannot be sent electronically.
If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact the practice on 0115 9423759, or visit: NHS Electronic Prescription Service
